Leather Making Workshop with Milestone Bag Co

Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime workshop with Julia Greenwood of Milestone Bag Co! This makes a great friend date. 

In this class students will learn how to cut a pattern out of leather for a clutch or cardholder, hand punch holes, learn the saddle stitch, and sew together your own piece to take home. You will also choose the color of leather for your handmade piece.

Artist Bio

In 2011 Julia discovered leatherwork 2 weeks after her dad passed away. An art teacher friend suggested channeling her grief into something creative. Julia has an old box of leather sitting around that she didn't know what to do with so she pulled it out and made a hand stitched purse.

She lived in Saxapahaw and pretty soon people started asking her to make them purses. She quickly fell in love with the design process, working with her hands, and the healing it provided her. Fast forward over 11 years and she's traveled the country working full time designing and making purses for all people. You can find her work in stores in all 50 states plus around Canada and even in Norway!

She moved back to the area in 2018 and lives in Snow Camp with her husband and son. Her studio is in a historic building in downtown Siler City that also doubles as her store front. Working with leather has continued to bring her joy and she loves being able to share it with everyone who is interested.
